Closing the week, the Lagos stock exchange ended the session on a positive note, bringing the All-Share index up by 0.12% to close at 71,112.99 points.
Interests in SEPLAT (+7.69%), UBA (+0.48%), and ACCESSCORP (+0.29%) kept the market in the green offsetting losses in MTNN (-0.62%), ZENITHBANK (-0.30%), and DANGSUGAR (-0.65%).
Having gained in four out of five trading
sessions this week, the ASI closed 0.37% higher w/w, its fourth consecutive
weekly gain.
Over the course of the week, strong performance across index heavyweight, MTNN (+2.35% w/w), alongside SEPLAT (+6.06% w/w) and ZENITHBANK (+1.06% w/w) drove the market's performance outweighing losses in BUACEMENT (-2.80% w/w), DANGSUGAR (-0.97% w/w), and ACCESSCORP (-0.29% w/w).
As a result,
the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 38.75%, while the market capitalization
gained ₦180.22bn w/w to close at ₦39.11trn.
Analysis of today's market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 37.77%. A total of 441.58m shares valued at ₦6.03bn were exchanged in 5,883 deals.
JAIZBANK (-0.62%) led the volume chart with 95.21m units while
GTCO (+0.00%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦1.31bn.
Market breadth closed positive at a 1.54-to-1 ratio, with
advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. MULTIVERSE (+10.00) topped
nineteen (19) others on the leader's log, while JAPAULGOLD (-9.09%) led twelve
(12) others on the laggard's table.
